SAPFM visits the shop

Hello all,

Saturday October 15th, Bruce and I had the pleasure of hosting the October SAPFM meeting at our shop. The topic of discussion was one of our favorites, traditional chair making!

Our goals for the presentation was to de-mystify  chair making  and to attempt to break down the process into reasonable steps. As some of you know, I enjoy talking about making things and could have spoke on the subject for days on end!

I think everyone left at the end of the day feeling that chairs are something to try out and add to their always expanding skills. Plus they are fun to make!

SAPFM member Steve Branam has posted photographs and a write up on the meeting and can be viewed at http://www.closegrain.com/2011/10/sapfm-ne-chapter-october-meeting.html

Thank you again Steve for doing that!

Next Saturday Oct 22, we will be hosting a GNHW small group meeting on box making.

Bruce and I are planning to start teaching classes on chairs, tables, and cases and more information will be available though our website and the blog. We are working out class schedules and costs as I write this...please stay tuned!

Thanks and raise your hand if you love making things,
Matt Wajda
